The Barn Pergola Project

www.oldworldgardenfarms.com - Facebook : http://www.facebook.com/pages/Old-World-Gar...

We built our barn pergola and patio as an extension of our barn project. We wanted a place to be able to sit and enjoy the farm - and the pergola and patio have certainly become that. The patio is 22 x 12 - and the floor is completely made from reclaimed brick from old barns and a railroad station. We used 2 x 12 double beams for the header boards - and then double notched 2 x 8 x 12's to fit down and lock in.

One of my favorite photos of the pergola and patio area.

We started by sinking the posts and then bolting in the double header boards

We then added and stained the rest of the purlin boards

The purlin boards getting their first coat of paint in the barn - much easier to paint before putting up!

Great-looking pergola. In my book, they create one of the most enjoyable outdoor spaces you can have.
