Making a reading nook for 6 year old boy

Question

I have a little corner in my son's bedroom where I'd like to make a reading nook, to encourage reading by creating a fun, cozy space and to hopefully keep his books in neatly. I have a little area rug and a rocking chair from Home Goods, and a bookcase. What else have people put in kids reading nooks?

I think just making it inviting to your child is key. @Leigh Anne @ Houseologie has good ideas, making things at their level. I think by personalizing to your son's likes and asking his input will invest him in the space. Does he want to be secluded? - Put a curtain around. Does he like to draw? - add some places for him to doodle. Does he like to play games? Add some. I threw our crib mattress on the ground, with some pillows and stuffed animals for my daughter's space. Ours is still a work in progress :) Looking forward to hearing what you do with the space.

in my boys area i piled pillows that were large and action themed i had a dragon a shark a big football,soccer ball, baseball ect. 1 wall was painted with chalkboard paint. the other wall was book/storage shelves and a 'art wall' (cork board) i found a old coffee table and redid it as a place to do art sitting on the pillow and attached a few bins to the top center for crayons colored pencils water colors and chalk and added a bin underneath for color books art paper and craft stuff. i did this room at age 4 and it stayed till age 10 and the table was too small and the moved the stuff to thier desks and kept the pillows lol and the book shelves had to grow. they still read for fun and both seem to like to piddle with art still so it worked

I did a bean bag chair and just lots of books on a small 3 shelf bookshelf at the end of my daughter's bed when she was little. I would get to missing her and go into her bedroom to see if she was there and she was always in her reading corner in the bean bag chair and it was fun to see if she noticed a new book from time to time in her collection.

I found some neat iron-on transfer paper for my printer and with free clip art made pillow cases with a 'reading' or library' theme for my son's room- very easy!I'll post some pix.
