You are my sunshine? Yes or no? Window message

Teri

I made this window and was wondering if I should put "You Are My Sunshine" or just leave it. The words are not permanent right now and would use another color or some other way.

Those words have always touched my heart, my mom sang them to me long ago. I would say yes to the phrase. However, it is a beautiful work either way.

Your window is beautiful! I do think you need something on that side to 'balance' the composition, and your writing is lovely.
    • Teri Teri on Oct 17, 2014
@Valerie Thank you. I'm thinking the same it needs some balance or something to fill the gap. Looks like by the comments the message wins.

I love that saying and it looks good incorporated in the picture! Very cute and I now know what I will be doing with my old window :)
    • Teri Teri on Oct 17, 2014
@Kimberly Grande Smith I still have four windows to come up with another idea for them. I can't let them go to waste. lol

I love the version with "You Are My Sunshine"....please don't take it away!
    • Teri Teri on Oct 17, 2014
@Lisa Sherwin After I added my flowers and the old upside saucer that song came to me and I thought maybe I should add the words too. That's why I asked for help...do I or don't I.
  • Marsha Schwarz Marsha Schwarz on Oct 16, 2014
Yes ... use the words if they are special to you! They look very nice and fill the space in a nice subtle way.
  • V Valencia V Valencia on Oct 16, 2014
I think the words make your artwork look complete.
  • Judy Judy on Oct 16, 2014
I love the song and it should be on if that is what u wanted to convey.
  • Suzy Humphreys Suzy Humphreys on Oct 16, 2014
I agree with V Valencia, however, if you're not sure about the phrase you could go with something else.
  • Jodi Jodi on Oct 16, 2014
    Definite yes! Beautiful window too!
    • Teri Teri on Oct 17, 2014
@Jodi Thanks so much. I never knew what to do with those flower dishes that were given to me until now. I added the bling in the middle of them and the glass stems are from a glass blower who broke a project he was working on...so my score.

    without looks classier xx
    • Teri Teri on Oct 17, 2014
@Janet O'Connor Thanks for your comment. The writing would be different if I decide that route, but the wording would be the same.

How about making the saying low along the bottom like it is the grass? I think then it will say it very unintrusively and also add weight to the bottom of your composition. Just a suggestion.
    • Teri Teri on Oct 17, 2014
      @Kelley M That's a nice idea too. Thank you.

as much as I love the saying I think I like the window better without, but you said that isn't the way it would actually look so it is hard t tell for sure. The window is great so you must know a thing or two..lol

You Are My Sunshine was the song my daughter and her grandpa danced to at her wedding. He sang that to all the grandkids and its special. It should be on your window :)

Looks great as it is. If you do add the lettering please let us see it. Did you use E6000 glue?

A resounding no! Phrases on things become trite IMHO. And it would be redundant anyway.
