Living/Piano Room

This room was designed around the piano. The entire family plays and they love sharing their love of music together in this beautiful space. The room also needed to serve the purpose of entertaining as well a serene place (no TV) for the 3 kids to come to individually to read or do homework. Truly a multi-purpose room. But it is the the first room that you see when you enter the home so it needed to gorgeous as well as functional. Sone.

The room is beautiful and it must be wonderful for the family to come together with their musical talents. My eyes are drawn to the fireplace. Where did you get the tile for it? We've been looking for tile to update our fireplace and I love what you used.

it's difficult to compete with a grand piano but the chandelier and the fireplace wall give it a good run for the money. gorgeous.

I think this is lovely. The sofa is perfect, as is the fireplace & chandelier. I would have turned the piano, however, so that the player has his/her back to the fireplace or to the sofa.

Lauren, does this particular tile on the fireplace require grouting? I've already commented once but every time I'm on Hometalk and I pass by your post, I just have to stop and look again. I love everything in the room but especially love the way you did that fireplace.

Hi Donna! Yes, this tile does require grout. We actually found it at the Tile Shop and the people there would be able to help you find something that would work well for your situation I'm sure. This is a large box store in our area, not sure if they have one where you live? It was a fairly quick and easy install for my guys:) Glad you like it and thank you for your kind comments!

Hi Elizabeth! What I have not shown here is that the rest of this room is very open to the rest of the house and the piano really had to go in this spot. It does make for a comfy spot to play:) Thank you for your kind comments!

Lauren, I just re-read my first post and realized I forgot the "y" making it look like I was complementing myself on our daughter's apartment instead of saying the sofa looks wonderful in Your home too.

Beautiful room! One question: why does the pianist sit in the corner? Whye is the piano not in performance position, the 2/3 position, where the people at the sofa can see the pianist's hands.
