Nothing over the wooden floor not sure if it is real wood or laminated. Just ugly and old.

First, you need to figure out whether it is real wood or laminate. Laminate is essentially layers of pressed fiberboard with a decorative wood-looking layer laminated on the surface. Because of this, it cannot be sanded and refinished like real wood and many products designed for bringing back the shine to real wood can further damage or dull laminate. Laminate always looks pretty when it is first put down but its beauty is typically short-lived. I've heard 6-8 years is about average. (My laminate is almost 5 years old and I cannot wait until I can rip it out and replace it with something else. I detest it! What a waste of money!) If you do, indeed, have laminate you might check in the flooring department of some place like Lowes or Home Depot and ask if they can recommend a product but it could be that it's just at the end of its lifespan. If you have real wood, you do have more options but since I've never had real wood floors, I'll let someone else speak on that.

We used a product called Quick Shine to revive the red oak floors in our home here in Indy. It's also good for laminate floors too. It has hardly any odor and dries in about 20 minutes. We used 3 coats to get the shine we wanted. It's made right here in Indiana also. I found it at Walmart.

@Karen Oster If you haven't read the comments about this Quick Shine product already on the link Hannah gave you above, you might want to. Even though this product says it can be used on laminate floors, it would appear not everyone is complimentary of the results, particularly on laminate. As I mentioned, you should try to determine whether you have laminate but whatever product you decide on, it might be advisable to try it in a small, inconspicuous area first before you apply it to your entire floor. It would be sad if you ended up with a worse problem than you have now. Good luck!
