Make an Address Sign

Several times a week someone knocks on our door and asks, "Is this 511?" "So sorry!" I'd reply, "I need to put an address sign out by the road." So finally I just got out some junk from my junk pile and made one. Now I don't have to give directions like this, "It's the house with the fence, um, it has some mailboxes in the front, oh, and look for my white van...." Now I can just tell them the address and they can find us!

I appreciate the idea but (please forgive me for even saying "but") I was disappointed that the tutorial I clicked on wasn't anything but the picture of the door, picture of you writing numbers on what looks like posterboard, and then the # hanging. I assume I have to paint the numbers on wood (?) or something but i would need more help to actually What I'd like to know is board type and what you use to hang it, what you use to weather the finish.

I have been trying to decide for a while what to do out there and I was reading the 30 best address signs and only 2 of them interested me and yours was it. So would you be willing to give me more info??

I finally found a use for some cute, old, tall and skinny cupboard doors that I've been hanging onto! I have a house number on my porch but apparently no one sees it until they ring the doorbell. Thanks so much for the inspiration!
