Chestnut

I never knew the brown smooth surface of a chestnut came from this green spiky ball!

    Oh wow! I've picked walnuts before so knew they didn't look like they do when you buy them in the shell, but this? Nope, I had no clue. Awesome! I wonder if these can be dried and used as home decor?

    You need to look at it from the biological and evolutionary standpoint. If the "nut" gets eaten...it can not be used to further the plant and reproduce.

    Mr Squirrel will look at this and move on to the oak tree....LOL
