When we parted ways with our contractor, it was up to my husband, my dad and I to put a kitchen together with very little money! This is what we came up with :)
Sharon-I know... I have thought the SAME thing... I watch them demolish stuff and think it should be donated!! The cabinets, the stove, the dishwasher, light fixtures, old vanities, etc... it was all given away, donated or sold at garage sales. Every bit!!
Well the last straw was I watched an episode where they smashed a stained glass window...and OK....Um... it wasn't to MY personal taste....for a bathroom...or really anywhere ...LOL, but Someone would have loved that thing and they literally smashed it with a sledge hammer....That's when I started writing letters....LOL
@Susan they DID, it was a round window with Ducks and catails....and the homeowner was handed a sledge hammer by the host and told to "smash that window she hated" and she did...I was horrified....
Beautiful kitchen. I especially like the shelving in the dining area. Everything looks so pretty. Smashing and destroying cabinets and other useful items is a pet peeve of mine as well. I start fussing at the TV when I see this being done. There are so many uses for some of the stuff. It's so easy to call Habitat and have them pick up the items. Also, like in the stained glass incident that Sharron W. mentioned, I think about the person who did it, are they watching this and how do

they feel? Yes, it may be dated but at one time some one proudly stood back and admired their accomplishment. Kudos to you for recycling everything.
@Donna, That's exactly RIGHT, the person that took the time to make a piece of ART for their home, and graciously left it for the new owners....I looked at that window and thought how easy it would have been to take it out and replace it with plain glass when they moved.... and no, I can't think of anywhere I would want that particular piece in my home...But I know others who would have been crazy over it....so all it takes is a little consideration and appreciation of the history of a

piece...So definately Kudos to those of you that work hard to not waste "refurbishing scraps"....I'm seriously proud when my materials come out with almost no waste from a build project...That means I planned well...
@Kevin - you should post this separately for all the dragonfly lovers on this site!!
@Sharron - you should go snoop around KMS's profile (go ahead, he won't mind) and it directs you to other things he and his Sweetie have done. Have you seen their teeny tiny minature fairy houses w/itty bitty fairy furniture? I'm coming back as a fairy one day!!!
Susan...My sweetie has been at a sculpture workshop this week near Aspen (@Anderson Ranch). This is a pic of the project she has been working on. The course she has been taking is the concrete and Steel workshop...she even got to do some welding...Mean while I home taking care of the dogs and doing deck demo for a client...
Kevin, your pride in Tori's work really shines through. Clearly you two make a wonderful team and support each other's efforts!! Interesting mediums - metal & concrete turned into a delicate work of art!! Beautiful!!
What!!!! I've missed all the excitement.... We should start a Picket rally on people who throw away perfectly good cabinets and smash beautiful stained glass art work shame on them Yes KMS where's the Hammer LOL!.. Rating shmatings... I'd be the one out there digging through the trash with Feet and Butt waving in the air hanging out of the dumpster...Hehe! Can you picture me now LOL! Fox Hollow - good for you!! Donate, repurpose, reuse - whatever it takes!!
My partner has done stained glass. And to think about the careless disregard for the amount of work and love that goes into real art...shame on them.
