Refinishing washed oak with stripping

I have a dining table and a master bedroom set I would like to refinish but do not want to strip the set. Are there products you suggest to do so?

If you want to paint the set, clean thoroughly and lightly sand before painting. If you want to stain it, all of the existing finish needs to be removed. I use a heat gun to remove the existing finish, then the residue needs to be removed. There are several good products available. I haven't heard negative comments about any of them.

@ Personally, I like the dark stained look, with polyurethane. Enamel paint is more durable than latex, but harder to clean up. Polyurethane has an amber tint to it, and gets darker with age. They have some really cool products on the market now so it's a personal preference. Have fun!

It truly depends what your final product is going to be. Citristrip is the best stripper on the market. It does not smell bad and it won't burn your eyes or throat.

Go to u tube and watch videos of "annie Sloan" chalk paint. Great stuff, no stripping, can do whole thing in one day.
