My Tire Ottoman is On a Roll!

Hi Everybody! Man, what a whirlwind this has been since I posted my tire ottoman idea. I know the power of Social Media, but wow! For those who have suggested and asked, yes, I have considered and have decided that I will be marketing my ottoman. Hopefully I haven't hurt the possibility of sales by sharing all the down and dirty how-to details with everyone. But, hey, generosity can only be rewarded, right? For all you DIYers, I know you can make your own, but for those not so inclined, I'll have tire ottomans for sale soon--and of course for much less than my inspiration ottoman! Yay for recycling! Go Earth!

Great product! You can extend your line by adding good padding on top and turning these into seating...they can fit under coffee tables...which you can also make and sell as a unit! If you can do this, you can make a simple table. If you want, you can add storage inside. Paint some bright colors and they can become a toy box with a big lid and knob on top! You will be limited only by your imagination. I can just see a zebra one with a black top in a boy's room or with a pink top in a ...»
girl's room! The sky is the limit! Can you imagine how great these would be as patio seating? With accomanying planters?

How do you address the rubber smell? Tires give off a very distinct smell.

If you're creating the ottoman with a used tire, I doubt it will have the rubber smell of a new one.

I think your idea is phenomenal. I suggest your try Gorilla glue rather than those tiny tubes of super glue. Have you noticed an odor in your home from the tire. They do indeed have a bad odor in small enclosed places such as a car trunk or even a garage. Please post your comment regarding the odor. Thanks.

Hi Pettigrew, no odor at all. I think all the odor wears off as tires are used. I'm using old tires that have been sent to pasture.

Thanks Pettigrew! By the way, just noticed you're from SC. I grew up in Manning, SC! Not sure where Moore is, but I do know, "Nothing could be finer than to be from Carolina!" LOL

Hi Donna, yes, I am definitely giving the business a go! I've been busy with product development, licensing, suppliers, patent attorneys, and on and on. It's a LOT of work, but very exciting! My online store will be Home Attire (www.homeattire.net). I hope to launch really soon. Thanks so much for your well wishes. Where did you post your pic? Can't wait to see it!

Nikki, so pleased that your entrepreneurial spirit is in rolling along. Have shared your new business site. Moore is between Greenville and Spartanburg, both with Michelin plants...this area could be a great market for your product. Best wishes to you.
