Coffee table missing glass at end, what can I do?

I bought this and wanted to make ottomans at the end but they stuck out and didn't like it so now I need other ideas for the ends instead of glass. It's for daughter.
I white washed whole table and love that part.

I would cut a piece of thin wood to fit into each end, paint it black or even a bold color, seal it with poly and insert it into the spaces. You could also cover the inserts with a cute patterned wallpaper and seal them.

You could cut wood and fill in the top and upholster the entire top. It would make a cute bench. You could also upholster just the middle and make the ends into a cubby for books etc. or paint wood with chalk board paint and put a basket of chalks under for drawing. Great piece to redo.

I took some wood pieces and made a "tray" and set them inside each of the spaces where the glass was. They can be removed if a serving tray is ever needed.

I would make a planter the size of opening and put flowers and plants, with a sturdy case in the opening bottles as in a bar...

Having a piece of glass cut for it would be very inexpensive, I'd recommend measuring it and finding a local glass shop!

You could add boards done in checker or chess style or any game your kids like that is removable so all the pieces can be tucked under the game board when they are done playing.

You can still do that. Get a thin (not to thin) about 1/4 in piece of wood, your foam padding, fabric and fit all together then staple to the underside of the wood. I would cut the wood a little smaller then the opening so that when you add your foam padding and fabric it will fit a little better so it is not to tight to get in. I hope this helps and you understand what I tried to explain.

One easy thing you could do is use it for tall books, the "coffee table book" variety, sort of like a magazine rack, if you didn't want to add glass or a basket.

why not make shadow boxes using plexy glass instead of real glass, then the contents of the shadow boxes can be changed out with the theme of various holidays, it is a great way to display seasonal keepsakes without little hands getting to them

You can also add a board all across the table and add a foam piece and cover if with fabric. Use as a bench for the end of her bed.

...or, how about adding padded boards to both ends and use as ottoman or extra seating if you have a lot of guests over? That way "technically" no one will have their feet on the table.
