On man Andrea, NOT! Maybe just at hobby lobby. Get out there and fine a color you like and try it!!! Jan, I use the American Paint Co paint on accessories too but I still feel that the Ce Ce's has better coverage and is easier to work with.

That's a big question! All chalk paint should be able to go directly on furniture (provided it's clean) and everyone has their preferences. Sometimes it depends on the piece and the price of the paint. Annie Sloan has a lot of fans because it covers well, sticks to ANYTHING and is durable, however it is expensive and that puts some people off. I've used other brands (as I'm from the UK we have less choice than you) and still got good results and I've also made my own. My favourite recipe is latex paint and calcium carbonate (chalk powder) which I buy from Ebay. I think it comes down to what you are painting and the finish you want. One thing that is key, whatever you use, is the waxing/varnishing that you seal it with, I've never found a chalk paint that didn't need some protection!

There are a lot of good chalk paint brands out there - don't be fooled by price. Just because it's more expensive doesn't always make it better. Most paint manufacturers will tell you the recipe for chalk paint is pretty standard which is why it is not patentable although some will use less VOCs and some brands use clay and why it's even easy to make at home. I like Poet's Paint - they use "liquid glass" in their paint which provides a nice hard and durable finish plus it's about $8 a can less than most others and I find it works just as well. Their Vintage White is a color match for Annie Sloan Old White.
