Painting with Chalk Paint

This is a great guide for beginners if you've never tried chalk paint before. Chalk paint allows you to paint virtually anything WITHOUT sanding or priming your piece first! I love that! I took an old console table and walked through the process of painting and waxing.

Beautiful...I love this paint, don't you? I have the Old White..and when I need a different color for a small project I just add a few drops of craft acrylic paint to tint. Works pretty good so far.

Hey Kim! I've never actually used the real stuff, just my own concoction using baking soda, and plaster of paris. Works so well though!

Kim Sand & Sisal I am so impressed with the look of the chalk paint I want to ask a question - what type of surface will this NOT work on? Seems to me it is good for most surfaces. I don't want to waste time on the wrong surface.

Can you give me any tips on waxing????

Aqua Elephant - What are you specifically curious about? I know that with this wax, you simply rub it on (I like to use cheesecloth) and then buff it out (with fresh cheesecloth) pretty immediately. I asked the experts at ASCP if you needed to let the wax sit for any length of time and they said NOOOO! Buff it out right away. So I would do, let's say a table leg entirely, buff it out, and then move on to another area. Hope that helps. ;)

Aqua Elephant - ok, the great thing about the wax is that you can apply more over the top. So go ahead and rub in a bit more to the dulled areas and see how it does. I suspect if it's a tabletop, then you might end up having to re-wax the full top, but try the spots out first and see how it goes. Best of luck!
