Waterfalls for Window Wells

Create a lower level "room with a view" when you transform an unsightly window well into a Pondless Waterfall. Besides a gorgeous view, you'll enjoy the soothing sound of running water when you open the window. The waterfall keeps re-circulating so no water enters the basement window. Watch the video that shows the rest of this amazing landscape. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VhSZyfidz4c

This basement office now has a beautiful view of a small waterfall. Open the window to enjoy the sound!

Creative use of rock provides inspiring scenery.

Isn't this view much better than the ordinary corrugated piece of metal you typically see out a basement window?

A mix of plants and rock was used to provide a fantastic view.

Cleaning the windows becomes more enjoyable, too. No more stooping into a spider-ridden window well.

Lisa I, this system holds up during heavy rainstorms. There is a subsurface reservoir and the system is also tied into the homeowner's sump pump if a really heavy rain produces flooding.

Denise and Laurel - basically this is a Pondless Waterfall facing the window. We have a how-to video on building a Pondless Waterfall that you can find on YouTube at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YRtjfM8ZWmU.

Carol N, yes, it's in Illinois! You can either turn the waterfalls off during winter and store the pump in water in a frost-free location, or you can let the waterfall run during the winter and enjoy the beautiful ice formations. You just need to add water once in awhile to top it off (due to evaporation loss).

Is that the only exterior access point? Is there another way out of the basement in case of fire?

I am curious how filling the window well with small stones like that compromises the purpose of it. I am all for a point of serenity during work but what happens during the spring thaw or a heavy rain? Just wondering.

I love it! It pushes the envelope of what can't be done to what can be done with a little creativity and ingenuity! I will never be able to afford this big of a project but I do love the pondless waterfall feature. I could probably replicate it in minature in my backyard!

Rivka, there is a sub-surface reservoir to catch the water, and in cases of severe flooding, the system is hooked up to the homeowner's sump pump.
