Jack Daniels lamp

Lamp I made for my best friend's bar room. I made the lamp shade by printing the logo from online onto canvas paper. The lamp shade was white when I bought it at the flea market. I watered down some black paint to stain it black.

This is just before I filled the bottle with whiskey colored glass stones.

Is it a working lamp? Great idea even if it is not, just wondering.

thanks everyone, Yes it is a working lamp. the bottle had to be crilled for the wiring to go thru. It takes time and patience.

What a neat "guy" lamp Donna. I can see why he didn't want to hide it in his bar room. I'd want everyone to see such a neat personal lamp too.

That rocks and is the perfect man cave accessory. Do you have a tutorial for it?

No I dont have a tutorial. This is the first one I've made and I pretty much just winged it. I can tell you that the secret to drilling the bottle is a good glass drill bit. You have to keep the bottle cool so I kept wiping it down with a damp sponge. Take it slow so the glass doesnt crack.

I wonder if it would work in you had someone pouring tap water over it while you drilled?

    Hi Becky,

I would worry about the label working loose. Too much water would loosen the paper and the glue. I had good luck with the damp sponge. You just have to keep it cool not wet. I think if you had a bottle with no label wetting it would work just fine. :)

Thank you Donna. That's what I was thinking of. I have some wine jugs I've been wanting to make into lamps, but have yet to do it because I didn't want to try and drill the hole. I thought about having the cord hang down behind, but I didn't like that idea.

Oh I have plenty Donna. At last count we had more than a couple dozen. LOL So if I break the first dozen or so I'm still okay. ;^)

:^D @ Sharron. Can you tell we like wine? We get the more expensive stuff too, but for a little wine with dinner the big jugs work just fine. I do wine coolers. More "cooler" than wine actually.

I think the wine bottles would appeal to females. Guys are a little more hard core.

Donna, for decades I only drank a few sips of wine on our anniversary, but I recently decided it was a better way to ease stress pain than pain pills.

I have a few mini wine bottles I've been wanting to use to make garden lights with. I don't have near enough yet. We only get them when we eat at our favorite Italian buffet. Which isn't often enough. ...»

The large wine jugs are reminiscent of of the jug lamps that cost quite a bit. I'm hoping to sell them for way less than what you find them for retail.

@ Becky, you mean the kind of bottles that have a Basket around the bottom?

Oh I wish I had some of them. I had one as a teen with one of those multi colored dripping candles. The ones I have are just big clear glass wine jugs with the "O" shaped handle. Similar to this.... http://www.trilogyglass.net/catalog/images/...
