Have some Cotten towels that were left wet and unnoticed for days and now they smell bad . What can I use to take the bad smell out without taking the color out.

Soak in white vinegar and baking soda, with a touch of dish soap. Rinse and wash as usual. I've found towels hidden in my son's room!

We've left clothes in the dryer for a day or 2, forgotten. we've also had luck with lemon juice and white vinegar. I also run this mix through dishwasher every week or so.

You can find bleach for colored fabrics too!
  • Just rewash with a cup or two of white vinegar (depending upon how large of load) with laundry soap and then fill up the fabric dispenser with vinegar. Believe me with 2 sons this is an every week occurrence!

Guaranteed results with BAC-OUT (a natural odor and stain eliminator). Hang outside for a day or two for sun bleaching if you can too :)

powdered Borax helps with this too. My first choice would be a soak in white vinegar water, as The Garden Frog stated, a couple cups of vinegar in the water and let them soak for an hour or so. Then wash with your usual brand of laundry detergent.

ammonia works wonders, just NEVER NEVER mix with bleach. I use it on any organic stain - blood, grass stains, urine etc. smells while it is washing but it sure takes the funk out of towels.
