What can you put on a wall instead of sheetrock?

  • Drywall is about the lowest cost material and easiest to use. But plywood can work, you can use smaller boards against each other in a log cabin effect. You can staple burlap or cloth on framing. Or simply fasten paneling on the wood. What you use will be dependent upon what area your looking to cover over. You would not want cloth walls in a shower, nor would you want smaller boards if you were looking to save time to complete the project. Ideally the drywall is the best, or plywood if its a work shop. In any case check out the plywood section and paneling section in your local big box store where you can come up with all sorts if ideas on how to do this project.

How about corrugated tin over the wall board to make a rustic statement . new or rusty would be great. .I personally do not like sheet rock and would do anything to not use it , you can get paneling at home depot or Lowes go to a salvage yard and look around for something creative . old 1 in x 12 in boards are good too strong and can be painted any way you want .or better yet palletes free from a shipper would be nice too. seen it done in a pattern on the wall . GO for it . good luck

Why not just use old pallets? I hope that I get to live somewhere that I can do this - and SOON!
