Coiffured ceiling in kid's room

We created a regal ceiling for the bedroom of our little princess. We painted the ceiling in a color that complemented the color of the walls. then we added 2X4s and door trim to create a coiffure. We painted the coiffure white to make it stand out. We exchanged a standard light for a chandelier and added a medallion to complete the look.
Advice:
Use a drop cloth to catch paint as well as debris when putting up coiffure. Measure everything and chalk it out first!! This is very important! Use wood and decorative door trim to create the look you want. Paint everything before you put it up on the ceiling so all you have to do is touch up--no taping off. For this project, use prime MDF. It is much cheaper and works well.
This is fairly easy to do, and you can make the project more or less complex based on how decorative you would like it to be. This took about a day to complete, but we had to wait overnight to make sure the paint was dry before hanging anything. Other than having to work over our heads the entire time, this was a breeze.

paint, drop cloth, chalk, tape measure, screws, screw gun, decorative medallion, chandelier, door tr - $0.00
