Murals in walls of baby nursery

I used colored pencils to create multiple murals on the walls in our nursery. We then painted the walls around the murals and sprayed a protective sealant on the murals themselves.
Advice:
You have to pick your murals and make sure they will fit the wall without overpowering it. If you mess up, a standard eraser will typically take enough off the wall to color over, but if you really screw up, a coat of primer and paint will remove the evidence! Colored pencils give a great texture and an antique and classic look. Use an actual pencil (more easily removed) to sketch your outline. Use light strokes as these are more forgiving. You can copy an image onto a transparency and then project it onto the wall to trace if you are nervous. Know where your furniture will be and how high it is before you start so parts of your murals aren't covered. Use a light hand when spraying the protective sealant as large amounts will leave a "shadow" on your work. Use poster board to create ovals to trace on the walls before painting. You may want to use a tape measure to make sure they are symmetrical.
This was a very fun project. You can do these freehand or use a projector to trace them. It would help if you had some artistic ability, but you don't necessarily have to freehand these. You can use more animated pictures if you want an easier experience. The hardest thing here was creating the ovals around the murals and making sure they were even and centered. I got a giant box of colored pencils at Michael's and locked myself away while I was pregnant. It was a fun and relaxing way to bond with my baby very early in pregnancy.
