Burlap treatment for dining room wall

Created a faux treatment for the dining room walls with plaster and burlap. Burlap cloth was cut into identical squares and "lined" with plaster. After the plaster dried, the squares were dipped in wallpaper paste. The squares were then placed on the wall and painted. This created a stone finish.
Advice:
Use a drop cloth to catch paste drippings. Lay out your burlap as it will go on the wall before starting. Roll paste onto squares with a roller in the room where you will apply the treatment so that there is minimal transfer distance. Mix water and paint in a paint can. Dip cloth into paint can and swipe in broad strokes across the burlap squares.
This made a considerable mess but the finished project is beautiful. The burlap squares look just like stone. We had to get the squares on the wall pretty quickly once we started (since they start to dry and harden pretty fast) but with a little planning this went smoothly. Once they dried we were able to add a paint finish, which we put on with cloth and swiped back and forth to create a natural and custom look.
