*Questions and unexpected events that arose during the project:
removing old paint from a deck top is not easy
* Cost Comments:
material $ 400
labor $ 600
*My motivation to do this project:
deck top was old, faded, chipped, peeling
*Project Steps:

    THE KEY IN DECK CLEANING & PAINTING IS ALL IN THE PREP. AFTER POWERWASHING YOU SHOULD SAND DOWN EVERY INCH OF ROUGH SPOTS [IF NECESSARY SAND WHOLE DECK WELL THEN RINSE] , LET COMPLETELY DRY & THEN PAINT. I USED CABOT'S LATEX ACRYLIC SOLID DECK PAINT USING TWO COATS & DECK LOOKS BRAND NEW & IS 25+ YEARS OLD. IT SHOULD HOLD UP FOR AT LEAST 5-6 YEARS IF YOUR PREP WORK IS DONE WELL........CABOT LATEX ACRYLIC SOLID PAINT IS THE BEST I'VE EVER USED ON MY DECK! LOVE IT GOOD LUCK....................:)

    We are getting ready to paint our deck. What is the best paint for this. It has been chipped off by the blue jays and I have been peeling it off. We replaced the bottom with deck boards last summer, but now it's time to redo the paint on the railings and slats. Some of the brands only come in certain colors. Home Depot carries a deck paint called Deckover. Is this a good brand or should we consider something else? Thanks
