Landscaped Front Yard

We needed to landscape the front yard. There were miscellaneous trees and bushes sprinkled all over the front yard and we actually wanted a yard with grass.
*Options I considered for this project:
We had to compare quotes from landscaping companies to find one that was in our budget.
*Questions and unexpected events that arose during the project:
You definitely need to use a contractor when you have deep rooted bushes and trees and a large volume to remove. The landscaper had awesome equipment that got the job done fast.
* Cost Comments:
Cost included brush removal, the purchase of new plants and labor.
*My motivation to do this project:
We wanted the front yard cleared.
*Project Steps:
We did a sketch of how we wanted the front to look and went over it with the landscaper. We then decided on what plants/bushes we wanted to keep but just transfer somewhere else in the yard and the ones we wanted to get rid of "put in the chipper." We had to also buy some additional shrubs.
Advice:
Do a lot of planning before you start. Have a picture in your head and put it on paper. Compare prices of landscaping companies. We found a huge difference in estimates that we received from different landscapers around town.
Materials:
plants / bushes - $0.00

    I actually preferred the before. I like the privacy bed to help to hide the house. I might have transplanted some of the shrubs to open things up a bit. I definitely would have pruned and cleaned it up. I happen to like a thick look. You should see my landscaping....left to grow tall and loose; providing privacy and screening from roadway and vehicle sounds. I just like it loose, full and thick.

    I have a degree in art & design and visually it lost it's appeal. The other comments were spot on, also landscaping adds value to your home. I honestly thought the before picture was the after.
