Replaced Outdoor Housing Lighting Fixtures
*Options I considered for this project:
Finding replacement light fixtures; after some research I know this would by DYI project
*Questions and unexpected events that arose during the project:
Adjusting the settings on the light censors – they much more sensitive than I thought they would be.
* Cost Comments:
Three Light Fixtures - $25 each
*My motivation to do this project:
The existing outdoor light fixtures where tarnished and not working properly. Installed new light fixtures with motion detectors so I did have to worry turning light switch on/off all the time. Which most of the times it go left on.
*Project Steps:
Shopped for light fixture replacements with my wife
Decided on black fixtures to match front door
Located breaker for outdoor light fixtures and turned off
Unscrewed small screws holding existing light fixtures to stone wall
Removed all fixtures and detached wires and ground wire
Cleaned around the existing fixtures to remove dirt, excess motor from when home was built
Unpacked new lights and read instructions for settings
Set sensitivity setting for motion detectors
Installed new mounting bracket
Connected new fixture wiring including ground wiring
Tightened up new fixture and secured to wall

Do's
Shop around for good quality light fixture that will withstand the outdoors weather

Attempt project with out a good ladder
