replaced old laundry room flooring & washer /Dryer
*Options I considered for this project:
i needed a waterproof flooring yet stylish. looked at various top loading washers and there features
*Questions and unexpected events that arose during the project:
I didn't anticipate how many layers of old flooring was underneath the top layer of vinyl. there were 4 layers of old vinyl including the old asbestos vinyl which is not very safe to breath
* Cost Comments:
5/16 in. x 8 1/4 in. x 12 ft. Hardie Plank $6.19/EA. I bought 1 1/2
*My motivation to do this project:
the old floor was badly worn and subflooring was rotted. We needed new washer and dryer because the old washer burnt out
*Project Steps:
I removed all items from the laundry room. removed old flooring with a prybar and hands
removed subflooring 6x6
replaced subflooring with air nail gun
prep floor by smoothing and cleaning floor thoroughly before laying tiles
apply a primer to the floor so the tiles stick better
layed tiles starting at one wall and worked my way acros. use any roller with some weight to it to press the tile firmly in place
the next day we installed the new washer and dryer
Advice:
use gloves to remove old vinyl
be careful handling asbestos vinyl
Materials:
tiles - $28.00
hardie plank - $10.56
samsung washer/dryer - $879.00

4 Layers of flooring. Wow. Maybe there's a leakage problem that enticed someone to lay 4 floors. Yours looks nice. Keep an eye on it.
