Repairing a water main break.
*Questions and unexpected events that arose during the project:
My oil tank had to be moved in order to excavate and then my electrical service entrance started shorting (unrelated, but in the same location).
* Cost Comments:
This was for the excavation and water main repair. Does not include the removal of the oil tank and purchase of new tank, or the electrical service entrance work.
*Project Steps:
Called 7 excavation companies. 5 came out. Only 1 provided a written estimate. Had to arrange for removal of oil tank and repair of electrical service entrance. Once that was completed, the excavators came in and did their work. Luckily, the break was easy to locate and only took one day to repair.
Advice:
Always call in several contractors for estimates and check references.
