Converting two small bedrooms into one large room
*Questions and unexpected events that arose during the project:
Because of the studs in the wall - we couldn't cut out as much of the shared wall. However, it did work out.
* Cost Comments:
This was all labor - closing up the door with sheetrock and cutting out the middle wall was all labor with the exception of the framing around the opening.
*My motivation to do this project:
I had two relatively small bedrooms side by side with a great view of the pool and tennis court across the street from my home. I wanted to close up one of the entrance doors and break through the wall to make this area one large area.
*Project Steps:
First, I hired a gentleman that I was familiar with his work. When you close up a door you have to have top talent, if not -you will always see the outline of the door.
Advice:
Don't close up a door unless you have seen someone's work who has done this. When we cut out the middle wall - we had a gap in the carpet! We took a piece from the closet for the fill in but when I eventually replaced the carpet in that room i felt better about the flow between the two rooms.
Materials:
Sheet Rock and Trim - $50.00

    This was really a good idea opening up the two rooms. Did you consider doors in the new opening? Your house looks great James seems to be a good one.
