Jack-o-Lamp: A Salvaged Light Fixture "Pumpkin" for Halloween

Create an adorable and easy-to-make upcycled/repurposed jack-o-lantern using a salvaged light fixture!
Head over to my DIY tutorial for all the details!
Habitat ReStores (and other thrift or salvage shops) always have a plethora of these old ceiling light fixtures, just waiting to be repurposed. And I simply can't stop upcycling them into Halloween decorations. Take for example, this old fixture.
He doesn't look like much now, but I decided to turn him into a little jack-o-lantern...and it was surprisingly easy. First, I traced a jack-o-lantern face on the frosted glass globe...
Which I then filled in with paint...
And then- I inserted a special (and PERFECT) light source... ( Click here to find out what I used! ). How adorable is that?
Ta-da! A perfect jack-o-lantern...err, jack-o-lamp! And this is seriously perfect for anyone living in an apartment...or someone who doesn't want to use a real pumpkin or light candles...OR someone who lives in a warmer climate. Those of us in the South know how quickly a jack-o-lantern can rot if the days still get hot! Happy repurposing... and Happy Halloween!

Another wonderful repurpose idea! I think I might unscrew and remove the top metal piece and put one of those small stake solar lights from the dollar store in its place, paint the sides green for the stem, then it would light up the pumpkin every evening outdoors! Thanks!
