Need ideas on up cycling a fake-ish wicker table

My son gave me a fake wicker table. It's a tube frame with deteriorating wicker wrapped around it, but the 'bones' are good, and the glass is great. I've been wracking my brain trying to figure out some way to make it look good so I can actually use it. I would really hate to have to ditch something so sturdy. Does anyone have any ideas on what I can do with it? Thanks in advance. :)

If none of the existing wicker is salvageable, how about stripping it off and painting the bones of the piece. You could then recover with new wicker or a wrap of fabric or ribbon you like. Twine or rope could also work well!

@Betty Hammond-Wirsen Rope or twine is a good (cheap) replacement for wicker. I've used it to either replace or repair broken or damaged wicker. Cloth or ribbon sounds fun, too. Burlap?

I Fixed all of my wicker by first brushing it with a metal brush, then spraying it with appliance spray paint. Regular spray paint didn't work--just crusted. But the epoxy appliance paint strengthened the wick and it looks almost new again.
