Painted front and back porches

Irene
by Irene
We painted the front and back porches, steps, handrails and back porch posts.
*Options I considered for this project:
We had no other option in order to protect and improve the appearance of our home.
*Questions and unexpected events that arose during the project:
The posts in the back had warped as well as some boards on the front porch, so we had to force the builder to replace them.
*My motivation to do this project:
The porches, steps, handrails back porch posts were not painted or cared for by the builder.
*Project Steps:
We first power washed the areas thoroughly. We then sanded the steps, porches, and handrails where necessary. We secured the handrails because of careless installation.
We then applied two coats of solid color deck, fence and siding stain to the ares.
Advice:
Work as much as possible in the cool of the day. The paint can begin to get thick.
Materials:
solid color deck, fence and siding stain - $116.00
Sandpaper - $9.00
Power washer - $68.00
