Saving money with new energy bulbs and storing the old ones away properly.
*Options I considered for this project:
What do you do with the old bulbs?
*Questions and unexpected events that arose during the project:
It is great to save money, but you need to find a way to keep the old bulbs safe from breaking for emergency uses.
*My motivation to do this project:
Saving money is great by changing to energy saving bulbs.
*Project Steps:
1. Take all of your high wattage bulbs, 100 and up.
2. ... and use low wattage bulbs instead. You will see the difference on your bills.
3. Store old bulbs in a newspaper cushioned bag.
4. Cover the bag with more newspaper balls.
5. Store them under a cabinet or somewhere else safe in the event you need them for emergencies.
Advice:
Please be careful when removing old bulbs from high places and make sure you handle them with care.

Significant savings? I understand bulbs have mercury and should be disposed of properly.

I think I would have to agree with James on this one. Bulbs, like batteries, contain chemicals which will be released if not used over a period of time. Therefore, they should be disposed of immediately after usage and not stored for much later usage. Furthermore, why would you want to take up all that storage space for that little balance light energy for so-called “emergency uses” when you can actually store one or two new bulbs for that purpose instead.
