Small Kitchen Makeover

Completed for a Client.
Very small kitchen in a basement apartment was expanded by stealing space from the next door bedroom / closet area.
*My motivation to do this project:
Space was so small it was problematic to use.
With the simple addition of some space from the other room. This kitchen is now a "working" kitchen. This was one of the most dramatic remodels I have completed.
*Project Steps:
Demo old kitchen
demo old closet and corner in bedroom
rework plumb + electric
Frame new wall with door
tile + dry wall
add cabinets
tile counters
Tile floor
Wall was right next to small fridge, spliting the small window in two..small sink, no dishwasher...no counter space...ugly old tile in floor and on wall.
small hall to bath, old carpet had been pulled a while ago, raised area in front of bath door was removed. New floor tile was installed through out with tile baseboard
new cabinets and full sized sink, granite backsplash and counter. New lighting
Elbow room to spare, window is no longer blocked with a wall down the middle, added dishwasher
Kitchen had some "work around" areas like the wholes house's water heater and the water main. Relocating those would have been cost prohibitive.

This was a terrific transformation! I would have mounted a shelf above the stove for the microwave, thus getting it off the counter!

@Kathie taylor A few years back I got rid of our big microwave and replaced it with a smaller unit. I built a small under mount shelf for it. It has worked great freeing up some space.

I think the transformation is great! I personally would get long wood shutters to stand around the water heater or paint peg board and use as decorative space to hang utensils on hooks, towel/pot holders and such... great job!

@Pat S The space was set up after I took these pics with a curtain to hide the water heater.
