I want to partially finish my basement to be a play area for my kids (10/8/6). I want to put in a foam mat (like gymnastics use), a Wii, possibly foosball / ping pong, and a punching bag for my oldest son, who is taking karate.
*My motivation to do this project:
they are getting too old to play on the main area of the house, and we don't have much of a back yard. I want them to have a place to go and be kids
Materials:
200 X foam mat - $500.00
1 X Wii - $200.00
1 X foosball - $300.00
1 X large screen tv - $300.00
1 X ping pong table - $200.00
TBD X walls to draw on - $1000.00

back room, behind, perhaps storage or continuation of playroom, althought there is a wall w/opening in front of it
back room has fittings for toilet. not sure if I want to bother with that, though...
this is a storage area off to the side. it has my lawn equipment; needs to be accessible. I will have to walk past the play room to get here.

I am actually in china on business, so I have had a lot of time to think but not execute. I am scared to pull the trigger on an expensive DIY project with limited funds.

The foam mats are a great idea. I wish I had those in my house as a kid.
