How best to save old store bought flower seeds?

This past Spring, we bought several $1.00 boxes of assortments of flower seeds at a Dollar Store, and when it came time to plant them, we could not find the bag they were in. Just found it today (and got a good chuckle), and I'm wondering what the best way is to store these boxed seeds so they'll stay fresh enough to plant next Spring. Can some of you share your expertise with this forgetful rookie? Thank you in advance.

@Hannah V Thank you so much Hannah! I knew I'd seen a post not too long ago, but the search words I was using didn't produce it after a few times, so I asked. That's the post I remembered seeing, and with the seeds in their original packets, I think they should stay fine if I keep them cool and dry until Spring. Appreciate your help!

There is good information in that post. Cool temperatures and low humidity are crucial to success. I am not aware that flower seed has been tested in the way vegetable seed has to measure its viability over time, but annual flower seed is generally good for one to three years.

@Douglas Hunt Thanks very much Doug! Appreciate your input also, as ever, and I'll be storing them in a cool, dry place for the WI winter. :-)
