Adding a wall on top of a brick wall. Building a drywall surface to have smooth finish surface.
*My motivation to do this project:
To change the look of my family room, updating the space and adding value to my home.
*Project Steps:
I did not like the old wall of brick and wanted to make the wall look more updated. I built a full wall in front of the brick wall by using 2 x 4 and creating a base and header along with wall studs. I ran new electrical for my flat screen television and stero system.
Advice:
Do add a mantel- I am in the process of pricing one now.
Materials:

Before
After

I'm wondering why you had to demo old brick wall. That looked like it was a lot of work and messy. Couldn't you have framed the wall just in front of it. Don't get me wrong, it looks great!

What else will you put on the wall to fill up the area (pictures)? What material will you use on the heath? Can’t wait to see your get design ideas.
