What do you do with a picnic basket that has only one handle? That has been a question I've been trying to answer for more than five years.....and no, I'm not exaggerating! And then finally, years later, inspiration hit and I realized that a picnic basket with a lid and handles didn't need to stay a picnic basket with a lid and handles.
I purchased the picnic basket from Goodwill and was going to do some decorative painting on it. That never happened, though. Rather than try to fix what was broken, I removed the lid and other handle and then painted it to resemble an antique basket. The complete tutorial as well as more pictures can be viewed on my blog.

Now this basket is perfect for decorating or filling with some magazines or flowers!
Closeup of the painting and distressing.
The basket was painted with chalk paint, distressed, and then coated with Miss Mustard Seed's antiquing wax.
