Painted Canvas Flowers and Burlap Wreath

Painting canvas flowers add a magic touch to classic burlap wreath.
I had so much fun making the Painted Canvas Pumpkins, I thought it would be fun to paint the same canvas fabrics to make something else. The colors are perfect for a fall wreath and my Nana could use a wreath for her door, I was inspired!

To make the flowers you’ll need:

Canvas fabric

Paint

Scissors

Hot Glue

Rhinestones
The flowers are made in the same way as my Old T Shirt Flowers. (http://3peppers-recipes.com/old-t-shirt-flowers/) You can view a photo tutorial there with full details as well as the download for the flowers stencil.

Download the stencil, and cut out your flower shapes from the fabric. I used to different sizes of the stencil to have 2 different size flowers on the wreath. You’ll need 8 per flower.

Once the pieces are cut out, paint them to your liking. The edges are the part that shows the most. I used gold paint and edged one side of the fabric, white on the other side’s edge. Then on the yellow flowers I added some red stripes to the white edged side, to bring a little more color to the piece. Don’t worry if the paint curls the edges of your fabric, it adds more depth and looks beautiful.
Make sure your paint is dry before you start gluing your flowers together.

Fold your flower pieces, and glue them together. Add your rhinestones if you want some bling.
Next for the wreath you’ll need:

Metal wreath frame

Roll of Burlap

Ribbon

Hot Glue

Floral wire

For the wreath I made the burlap “fluffy” for about 2/3 of the way around, and then wrapped it tight around the metal for the other third where the flowers would be placed.

To start the “fluffy” part, start by wiring the burlap (folded in 1/2) to the inside of the wire wreath frame. Next, pull loops through the gaps in the metal. You can see in the image, the 3 loops pulled through on each of my fingers.
Use a small piece of floral wire to secure the burlap to the outside of the wreath and pull three new loops through the frame, and then secure the burlap again to the inside of the wreath. Continue this as far around as you want to go.

Wrap the remaining open frame and secure it with floral wire again.

Then, using a shiny, transparent ribbon I pulled additional loops through openings I could find between the burlap, securing them with floral wire.
Finally, arrange your painted canvas flowers and hot glue them in place.

I also added some additional rhinestones on the burlap. Who doesn’t love a little extra bling?

I was so excited to bring this handmade piece over to my grandmother as a surprise. It made her day
