  • your pretty much out of luck on this. The swelling is caused by one of several things. The floor did not have enough room to expand with dampness causing it to push up. The fix is to cut the edges to allow for additional movement to allow for this expansion. If you have the incorrect padding under the laminate and something that is really heavy that will prevent the laminate floor from moving that can also be the issue. The floor binds without the proper padding. Lastly, if water has been spilled on the floor, or the floor was installed over a damp area without the proper plastic and padding membrane suggested by the manufacture, you will need to take the floor apart, replace the underlayment padding with the proper moisture resistant plastic and reinstall the floor.
