Turning a Foreclosed home into a New home!

We bought a foreclosed home that was in rough shape. Needed work done on the floors, new kitchen, bath and basement. We are completely renovating the entire home very cost effectively..

Advice:

Do not remove walls with out original blue prints or a professional to determine if the walls are load baring. The entire home could collapse from removing its supports.

We have turned a closed, condensed kitchen into an open spacious kitchen. Now it is time for us to prepare the kitchen for new appliances and cabinets. First all drywall needs to be repaired and the sub flooring needs to be level. In the meantime our design time is finding cost effective ways to optimize this areas potential and make it new.

Did you'll have a structural engg look up the walls you were planning on bringing down?

Opening up walls make a lot of difference and now since the style is open casual living.

Cost Effective interesting!..Are you'll doing this on your own? The most cost effective method I can think of is hiring professionals with good history and reccomendations. They know what they are dealing with and will guide you in the right way.

If you are doing this on your own, then I am assuming that you have experience in remodeling. Nevertheless cannot wait to see how this will turn a new leaf. Good Luck guys!

Well James, you could say we nuked it.... We ripped out the existing laminate floors, laid down DUROCK then tiled it. Tile really accented the floor and changed the entire look of the kitchen. We will begin installing the cabinets very soon.

Our project is now 90% complete. There are several small details that need to add the finishing touch to take it to the next level.

Brent F, under the project you posted, there is a tab that says Add Photos, that is where you need to add pics.

Having lived in Detroit and Troy Michigan for 10 years, I would have considered installing solar assisted radiant floor heating system. This would have paid off handsomely and would have given the potential home owners a chance to be very comfortable. The project looks great. Congrats!
