Easy DIY cat perch/window seat

I repurposed an old serving tray into a cat window seat using an old serving tray and shelf brackets. Lalka loves to watch the squirrels and birds. #Love2Repurpose #bestof2012

I also added a coordinating cushion and hand sewn cat toys (with catnip in the filling).

LOL Roeshel! I'm thinking you have one spoiled cat! Too cute, though ...

I love it! I just had my husband "make" a shelf for our cat. It is rustic, to say the least! But Pumpkin loves it, so it's can't be too bad. Would never have thought to do a shelf with shelf brackets.

Fantastic idea. Mine are from a catalog too. Another idea - purchase adjustable screens, so when the windows are open, the good screens won't experience claw holes.

@ Linda, it is the nature of the "beast" to be spoiled. I have had many cats over the years (currently 6) and every one is/has been "one spoiled cat" :)

Roeshel - what a great "staging area" you've created for Pussy Galore!! Don't know it its male or female but whichever, she's gorgeous and you've honored her beautifully. Lalka sounds female to me but what do I know?? Beautiful!!

Yes, Susan, she's a female. "Lalka" is Polish for "doll". :)

For the Polish doll - that is a Pedestal for her position of high regard or adoration - not an ordinary Perch/window seat. Now all she needs is a tiara. So cute.

Great money saver thank you! Plan on attempting this, although I have 4 cats and only 2 different windows available for perching; right now they compete over one window sill!!! I have a cat with the same markings as 'Lalka' she is gorgeous, unfortunately she was from a feral litter and still is not socialized to people. Another task to tackle!

Good luck, Audrey. Covering a board cut to fit inside your window frame and covering it with batting and fabric works too!

DIY Show Off I definitely am going to do this...my cat is 19, and cant get up to the window sill anymore, so I assume I will have to do some sort of stairway.. we live in a mobile home and the walls are not much for screws nails etc. Any ideas? I think I can probably use cabinet doors from habitat for humanity..

Bernice, I've lived in a mobile home before too - it's a challenge sometimes. Have you tried Molly anchors (http://www.amazon.com/40-Piece-Molly-Bolt-Set/dp/B0026C72X8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1355698115&sr=8-1&keywords=molly+anchor) or toggle bolts before?
