I love that all the guys want to know about the bullet hole ;->

OK....because inquiring minds want to know...

Back in 1978 my hubby was a rookie officer with Houston PD and I was an apartment manager for Harold Farb. We lived in the complex that I managed. One day a fellow rookie came to visit hubby while I was at work. The friend reached into his boot to remove his weapon from his ankle holster and I ...»

guess the safety was not on. The gun went off shooting a hole through my wood coffee table...the wingback (empty..thank God!) and into the front door.

The chair was brand new and when the repair guy from Foleys Dept. store came to fix it...he looked at the hole..then me..then the hole again and just shook his head...never asked any ????'s .

But the most telling thing about this story is that in the middle of the day, a gun goes off in a busy apartment complex and nobody called the office or the police to report shots fired! Gotta love the wild west of Houston ;->

Just another day...as Paul Harvey would say

"that's the rest of the story"

PS...the careless rookie in my story went on to be an FBI agent

Great job on the slipcover, Janet! The ties in the back are a fun touch. Funny story, too - loved the repair guy's reaction!

Smart to wash the drop cloths & less expensive than muslin fabric.

I'm new here and I saw "wongback" and thought "Uh-oh, I am in waaaay over my head as I have no idea what that is!" LOL. Looks great and as I want to slipcover a chair and ottoman, I will be looking at this project in depth.

Or, paint the canvas for floor cloths, dinning chair fabric, or wall hangings! I got a million of um!

OMG Interesting. I hunt and handle firearms quite a bit. sounds like this guy should have taken a hunter safety course. Very glad no one was seriously hurt or killed. Just a caution note. If you have firearms and kids, keep them locked up. When they are old enough teach them about handling them and firearm safety. Kids are naturally curious and need to be taught to respect firearms, that they aren't toys. Bet this post will get some comments from anti gunners, but thats ok.

    @ Elaine...I'm just that good... ;->

Got tired of trying to find someone to make them for me, so I taught myself.

    They really are very easy.

Awesome story Janet. I was gonna offer to send you an upholstery hammer just so you didn't have to drive tacks with your hand gun....

Janet, luv luv luv the chair....great job! Drop cloth is a great fabric to use for lots of things...I am thinking of using them for outdoor drapes myself. No comment on the gun thing except that it makes a colorful followup for the "reincarnation" of the chair.

I love the whole thing, chair, pillow and all. I have been trying to find a pattern too but if you say it's easy I would have to start. I had that chair in the basement waiting for me to do something for two years. I am afraid to start working on it. LOL BTW your wall and carpet color is the same as ours, and the door is the same too and the dresser is similar to mine. You must be living in my house in a parallel universe ;0))) but your chair is finished.

The slipcover is lovely...I'm very impressed that you even did ties in the back. I'm clipping this to my slipcover board.

The chair looks great, but girl, I want to know about that bullet hole! I am a lover of mystery novels and the suspense is killing me.
