If there is no standing water in the way, pour a half-cup of baking soda down the drain, then add a half a cup of white vinegar. Place a drain cover over the drain and wait for fifteen to twenty minutes. While waiting, put a kettle with six to eight cups of water on to boil. Pour the boiling water down the drain to flush the vinegar and baking soda through. Don't do this if there are any industrial chemicals in the drain.
