No Need to Pass up Beat up, Old Furniture!

I bought this old console table off a local buy/sell/trade page from a friend. I was thrilled to bits that I was the one to get it, but when I picked it up, I have to admit, I was taken aback some. I knew it was in bad shape, but I didn't realize how bad until I saw it in person. Still, I left my money under the door mat, loaded it in the trunk and wondered what the heck I was going to do with my new disaster. I knew it had potential. I loved the lines and the details, but the top was practically falling off and the wood was just in sad, sad shape.
Look at that scratched up top...and the drawer....yikes, ink explosion maybe!?
Instead of trying to repair it, and erase all that "character", I decided to roll with it. Rather than patch and perfect, I went with embracing everything that was absolutely imperfect about this piece and used every last dent and ding to my advantage. The chippy, crackle paint finish was exactly what it needed! Truth? I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!! A little update to the hardware, some Modern Masters Metallic Paint for the details...
...some strategically placed cracks, diffused paint splotches and paint drips...
And I'm calling this piece done! It's definitely taste specific, but I love it all the same! I'd love to hear your opinions so please make sure to drop me a line and definitely ask away if you have any questions. Details about products and a picture of how I tackled that ugly drawer can also be found on my blog. Thanks a bunch. xoxo
