The space between the microhood and the counter top was limited, approximately 18" tall. The mural gives a "window effect" in the small space.
The backsplash consists of 4" and 6" torreon tumbled stone tile separated with a 1" x 12" cane stone border. The colors of the mural are repeated with glass tile accents.
The original hood in this project was a dated wooden one. 4" tumbled crema marfil was applied directly to the wood to give it an updated look. Shutters included in the mural make the window illusion more realistic
The original backsplash wasn't layed out properly and ended up being off center behind the cooktop. We installed a mural directly over the existing tile to cover the mistake. This saved money & demolition time to remove the backsplash & start over.
The client wanted more color in the kitchen, but didn't want to remove the existing backsplash. This mural was installed directly over ceramic tile with tile mastic.
