This is innovative. I saw it at a home show last year. It would have been nice for my son as he works on his car in the garage. I wouldn't want to leave it open regularly though because my garage just is not that nice & neat.

I thought the same thing @BeckySue

Is this screened? For years I've wondered why there isn't a screen door for garages. Would be so nice for many reasons.

Yes it is screened and the 4 panels stack on top of each other so they can all be moved to one side to move cars in and out. There is also a screen type available that prevents people from seeing through it yet allows a breeze through it.

They have been around for at least 25 years. Our neighbor had one when I was growing up.

Too bad it isnt attatched to a rack on the garage door so you can lift it up or down mechanically....

We had one of those back in the 60's......I was little but in pictures it looks like it even had a screen door in it.

We're closing on a home in New Port Richey, Florida next week. It has one of these, as does most of the homes in the community. We had never seen one before. The lady we are buying the home from is an artist and used her garage to paint in.

@Becky Sue - we have an Archtectural Control Board and HOA as well, but, I would certainly think this would be way more acceptable than people leaving their garage doors wide open for the whole neighborhood and passers by to gawk into a lot of unkempt garages - like mine, unfortunately, right now!! I'd love to be able to have a screened garage when I need the door open. YOU ARE RIGHT, HOWEVER, it's best to check on these things before spending the $$$ and then finding it "unacceptable".

Assuming your door is up to 10 feet wide and up to 7 feet tall they run $350 plus shipping and handling. If you would like to e-mail me your address I would be happy to provide you an exact quote.

LOVE ours in FL. Only issue is if you park two cars in the garage you have to keep moving them side to side. For working or sitting out in the garage for anything it is wonderful. Would be hard to live without them once you start using them.

Barbara, your dad should have gotten a patent on it! I've wondered for years why someone didn't come up with a screen door for garages. I never could figure out how it would be attached and work with an existing garage door. I like to paint in the garage and the dogs want to be out there with me. I always worry I'll get involved in what I'm doing and they will wander off. Also thought the same when my kids were little. This would be so nice for those reasons and lots more.

we live in central Florida and we have one on our garage and we love it. keeps the bugs out but lets the breeze in. It will all slide to one side or the other so you can get your car in.

I'd like it to be one of those spring loaded screens which slide out of a little box along the side of the door then jump back in when not needed.....biggest issue is you gotta keep that garage clean. ... Of course, first you gotta have a garage! the nice thing is that today's product appears to be one you can order (no making it yourself!)

Great idea and concept but I don't see this making it up north anytime soon.

Its already being used in some northern parts of the country, simply remove the screen panels and store during the winter.

I'm not as far North as you Jeff but for those mild days or when just working in the garage I'd love to have something like this. At least it would keep the mosquitoes out not to mention flies!!

It would also keep out the Lovebugs! We get them twice a year and they are thick right now. They seem to be attracted to white the most. I just painted a door a shade of white. I did the painting in the garage but had to keep the garage door down or else Lovebugs would have been all around it!

We have one that runs on a track installed just below the garage door. It also has a slide door in it. LOVE it, got it at an annual Strawberry Fest in Plant City Fl
