Now that is truly amazing!! I'm definitely going to try this and I'll let you know how it works. The things people come up with is astonishing - my head can't hold too much more valuable information - well, at least not tonight!! Better let it all sink in!!
Thanks! When I did this in the past I made just enough ironed vinegar for my project. Right now I have a larger jar made up for various projects over the next couple of weeks. I'll post if the mixture remains effective. Of course the tea will not last.
I am SO trying this!! I have had so many wood projects that i have materials for and are in the process of making, but have not been able to find any books or resources on distressing or aging techniques.
Laurie, fair warning...this technique is so great that I stopped using paint on projects! Ha, Ha! Actually I have started mixing the technique a bit. Like painting the mantle below and topping it with a "new wood into barn wood." Or a shelf with a dry brush of creamy white over the "barn wood." I'll post it up next week and let me know how your projects turn out.
It's steel wool soaked in white vinegar for 24 hours. I have done several techniques to age new wood to look like barn wood but this is my favorite.
