This whole thing could be painted in some color like brown or green or aqua..

Instead of chopping them fully ,you could have trimmed it up.Any way I think you have done a wonderful job .I The metal art and the solar lamps are a great addition .You can start adding some plants to you garden.Or even benches etc...
