Pam, your garden looks like it's straight out of a magazine. However do you do it? -
What are the five lessons? We're waiting. -

Thanks. Great tips. I especially like the note about some plants dying no matter what. Someone on HT brilliantly once said that the most expert gardeners have killed more plants than anyone. -
I HATE my yard! We bought a new house 8 yrs ago. The contractor bulldozed everything on the land, 4 acres. Since we bought it we have bought trees and trees and trees. We have planted flowers seeded grass. Planted watered,,,until I'm about to drop. Now we have real bad drought. My water bill has gone from $40.00 on average to $120.00 and we have dead trees, dead pampas grass, dead bushes, dead flowers,,,,,,,,,,,I wanna cry! :( -
Joan, so sorry to hear. We've had a really HOT summer this year, but we've had lots of rain. Thankfully, it's cooled off and hopefully some of your plants will survive. -
Girl you sure have a passion for gardening and landscaping and it shows. Your yard is immaculate and beautiful beyond belief. -
That is amazing!!!! -
What a beautiful garden. I'm sure things have really grown in the time since you took that picture with the mulch. Sometimes I'll look at a photo from my own garden from even two years ago and go, "Wow." -
I just came from Lowells with a trunk full of cheap shrubs..Love those sales..!! Lets get them planted!!! Fall is a great time.. -
I just bought a home in Lake Havasu City, Arizona...can you give me some advice on what flowers, if any, I can plant. I would really appreciate some advice. -
Barbara, if you re-post your question on the home page, more people will see it and be able to help you out as well. -
Barbara, I would walk around your neighborhood and ask your neighbors what grows well there. I haven't ever lived there. You can also do a search on the internet, as well. -
This is absolutely lovely! -
I enjoyed reading about and viewing your garden. Sounds like you are very patient with landscaping and appreciate nature. -
Compacted soil can be fixed. This happens from heavy equipment running on your soil during construction, squishes the air out of the soil. Soil is alive & needs air or your plant roots will not do well. Everything is connected. University sites will explain the fix. -
Beautiful garden Pam! -
These are great tips - thanks! I love #itching4Spring
