My husband has used this drill bit for making hanging table out of repurposed door. I have written a post on my blog about the DIY project, but I could not find a proper name in English for this tool. Can anyone tell me what this is?

It has two common names...spade or paddle bit! These are very handy to make holes so as to use a small hand saw to saw out for something like a hole for a sink!

Apparently, it depends on the person in the USA. I've never even heard it called a paddle bit and I'm in Missouri. We call it a spade bit.

It is called a paddle bit or spade bit or wood boring bit, depending on where you live. I'd try spade bit first.
