Pink, Pink and More Pink Pumpkins!

I know, I know....pumpkins aren't usually PINK!! But I was asked to enter a Breast Cancer Awareness "Front Porch Decorating Contest" and what better than to use tons of yummy pinkness and fall's finest decorating tool as an award winning combination?
I already have an obsession with painted and decorated pumpkins! So I gathered fun, pink things from my daughter's bedroom and went to town on adding in funky pumpkins! The goal was pink overload. We succeeded!
Yes I use real pumpkins for my painting because I tend to want new things every fall and real pumpkins are a fraction of the cost of fake ones. But you can use either!

Cinderella pumpkins are PERFECT for decorating with tulle! You can use a little adhesive spray to keep the tulle fabric in place and I secured the tulle at the top with a rubber band and an antique women's broach. So easy! It's a 3-5 minute project if you purchase the tulle on rolls because it's already cut in strips!
On this pumpkin, I simply rummaged through my paint supply until I found 3 different shades of pink paint and I drizzled paint down the top of the pumpkin, After letting that dry, I glittered the stem in what else? Pink glitter!!!
Glittered polka dots...so sweet!
These sweet pumpkins are so easy to do. They use a dobber tool (or spouncer some call them) that you can get at any craft store. It's a round sponge on a stick and it makes the PERFECT polka dot! I used pink acrylic paint to add polka dots and while the paint is still wet.... sprinkled it with glitter! The glitter sticks to the wet paint. Easy breezy, mac and cheesy!
This pumpkin is just covered in a sheer fabric, secured with ribbon and a piece of jewelry.
Glitter and tissue paper steal the show!
And THESE pumpkins are my favorite!!!! The top pumpkin we painted in pink paint first and then sprinkled glitter all over it. The mess factor is thru the roof, but the cuteness factor makes up for it!

The bottom Cinderella pumpkin is covered in a gorgeous pink tissue paper that I found at the store. I use Mod Podge for all my pumpkin tissuing!
My display was awarded 1st place and I was so happy that I could help raise funds for a great cause while at the same time.... give people ideas for their pumpkin decorating.

There is so much more that you can do with pumpkins that just traditionally CARVING them. If you are looking for any other ideas, I'd love to have you stop by my website at http://www.themagicbrushinc.com or my Facebook page for The Magic Brush at http://www.facebook.com/themagicbrushinc .

Happy painting!
