Do I need to remove leaves from my flower beds?

OK. Got all my leaves in the yard picked up. Haven't done the flower beds yet. Will it hurt to leave the leafs on the flower beds? Remove them?

They are great on on flower beds if you shred them. If you don't, they can form a mat that will keep water from penetrating to the bed underneath.

It's compost. It will feed the plants. Add some marsh hay and lawn clippings to help it along and mix it all up a little. You'll end up with soil that looks like chocolate cake mix and is full of nutrients. Compost this way is perfect for plants. No need for chemical fertilizers
